Hallo! We’ ve had a lot of free time in the past couple of days to explore Berlin on our own and work on our project, which is to find a local to follow around for a day and interview. On Thursday, our group went to see THE WYLD at the Friedrichstadt-Palast. There is no other word to describe the performance other than wild. Although it’s been compared to Cirque du Soleil, I don’t think I would see anything like it in the U.S.
Sunday I hung around Alexanderplatz to enjoy people watching, the sights and the sunshine.
I made a friend named Hafiz who bought me coffee as we chatted until he had to go to work. I also talked to a 22-year-old Polish economics student named Katarzyna who was blowing bubbles for hours, bringing smiles to kids and adults alike. Everyone is so friendly.
Alexanderplatz is a hub of so many interesting people who all have a story. It’s awesome this area is only a short tram ride away. Many of these characters are trying to get by, while others just want to share their talents with the world. Berlin is a special place, a melting pot, where anything seems to go. I’m going to miss this city with its history, culture and heterogeneity.
